We conduct measurements and analyze the bedrock and boreholes to ensure that all our geoenergy projects are of the highest quality. All measurements are performed using the latest industry technology.
Thermal Conductivity Test (TC Test)
The Thermal Conductivity Test (TC Test) is conducted to measure and analyze thermodynamic parameters in the bedrock and borehole. Using these parameters and information about the property's power and energy needs, we can simulate an appropriate borehole field, including the right number of boreholes and their depth.
TC Test, along with energy simulation, ensures that the boreholes are designed accurately. This helps us avoid unnecessary energy costs or the borehole field not being able to deliver the required energy.
When Rototec performs a TC Test, we first drill a test hole and install the loop in the borehole. We then connect the TC Test measurement instrument to the loop and conduct the measurement itself. This process typically takes five to seven days. Afterward, analysis and report writing take an additional one to two days. The test drilling provides valuable information about the characteristics of the rock and any difficulties encountered during drilling. The test hole can then be used as part of the future borehole field.
Borehole Measurements
To further ensure the quality of our geoenergy projects and installations, we also conduct measurements of the borehole fields. This includes straightness measurements to ensure that the boreholes' inclination and direction are correct.
The measurements also show temperatures and pressure drop and flow measurements for each borehole. Overall, this allows us to ensure that the drilling aligns with the project plan and that the results meet expectations.
